ADVANTAGES OF HAIRPIN HEAT EXCHANGERS

  • Well suited in applications where high thermal performance and a compact footprint is required.
  • Use when application calls for process fluids on both the shell and tube sides with temperature cross.
  • Provides true counter current flow which permits temperature crossing and a close temperature approach.
  • Able to handle wide temperature differentials without the use of an expansion joint.
  • Ease of maintenance – long radius u-bend
  • Available in removable bundle and non-removable bundle designs. Use a removable bundle when the application requires cleaning on both shell and tube side. Use the more cost effective non-removable bundle when a fixed tubesheet design is allowable.

COMMON CLOSURE HAIRPIN: TYPE CCType CC Hairpin

  • Single bolted closure design. Ideal for applications involving low design temperature or pressure differences between the shell and tube side fluids.
  • Enjoys the maintenance advantages of a Separated Closure Hairpin (Type SC).
  • The center ring keeps the shell gasket seated during the removal of the tube head for inspection or service.

Types of Non-Removable Bundle Hairpin Heat Exchangers

ALL-WELDED HAIRPIN: TYPE AW

  • More cost effective design when removable bundle is not required.
  • Fixed tubesheet design.

JACKETED PIPE: TYPE JP

  • Most economical solution for any heat transfer application
  • Fixed tubesheet design.
